RadioAct Supervisor (RAS) is a system for detection, localization, identification and tracking of radioactive materials. It supports both multiple stationary detectors (fixed portal monitoring) and one or more mobile detectors (first responder applications). The system includes a software program that collects data from networked radiation sensors, analyzes data and reports location of the radiation source in quasi real-time. The system also includes description of the UDP datagram format that networked sensors should comply with in order to be compatible with RAS.

The main features of RAS are:

• Support of redundant arrays of radiation detectors (fault tolerance);
• Arrays may consist of heterogeneous detectors;
• Support of spectroscopic detectors (required for identification of radiation materials);
• Support of anisotropic detectors;
• Detectors can be added or removed from the network on-the-fly;
• Use of a standard Ethernet protocol (off-the-shelf hardware, wired and wireless configurations, security);
• Radioactive material detection is based on non-linear regression to physical model combined with heuristic algorithms;
• Additionally, RAS can be integrated with external equipment (alarms, pan/zoom cameras etc.).

RadioAct offers services for outfitting radiation detectors with UDP servers and GPS equipment for compatibility with RAS (GPS or similar detector localization capabilities are optional for stationary installations and are required for first responder applications).
